Triangle Agency

Triangle Agency is a tabletop roleplaying game of paranormal investigation and corporate horror. It’s the first project from Haunted Table Games.

I began work on Triangle Agency with a few example layouts for its Kickstarter campaign (below), which launched in June 2023. The goal was to update the look established in the Delta Test while staying true to the Agency's corporate aesthetic: welcoming, open, friendly, and utterly cruel. The campaign was a runaway success, raising $379,602 with 4,887 backers (3,796% of the initial goal). So, I was brought onboard to continue laying out the two main books from the campaign: the Triangle Agency Core Rulebook and The Vault: Missions for Triangle Agency.

Shown for just a few seconds in the Kickstarter video, this was our first exploration of where the more unusual layouts would eventually go. I mean, this is a totally normal spread, nothing to see here!

The Core Rulebook

This 300-page beauty was a close collaboration between Caleb Zane Huett (lead game designer), Michael Shillingburg (3D art, UI & layout design), and me, with art direction from Ryan Kingdom. We established templates for "Agency-Standard" design, and then broke that standard in just about every way you can think of. We weaponized layout to showcase the struggle for control and, well, agency, that sits at the heart of Triangle Agency.

The Vault

At a cool 200 pages, this book of 12 missions for Triangle Agency prioritizes usability first, with vibes a very close second. With assistance from Caleb & Clint Skene, I laid out each mission, peppering them with maps, diagrams, icons, and a little splash of pixel art. I also designed an introduction for each mission based on an in-universe, GM-facing intro written by each mission's author. (Also, I wrote the first mission that appears in the book, "Springs Eternal.")
