In a Neuro Minute

I wrote and recorded a one-minute explainer of my postdoctoral research for the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience at URMC’s “In a Neuro Minute,” a video series aimed at explaining research to a general audience.

I co-emceed the 2018 Discovery Day at AT&T Park (now Oracle Park), the annual flagship event of the Bay Area Science Festival, which draws over 20,000 attendees each year. I interviewed exhibitors about their offerings, participated in demonstrations, and chatted with visitors to hear what they were excited about seeing at the festival.

The Carry the One Radio team and I were invited to create and present the opening event for UCSF Alumni Weekend 2019. We produced an hour-long live recording of a podcast on the HIV/AIDS epidemic for an audience of 200. We interviewed a group of clinicians and researchers who were on the frontlines of treatment in the 1980s, and continue to fight for prevention, care, and equity today.

I was selected as one of 10 finalists in the 2019 Grad Slam Competition, in which students give a 3-minute talk about their research for a general audience. I explained my work on how neural stem cells figure out their birthplace, and remember their identity for a long period of time as the brain develops.
