You are a larva, a spore, a bacterium, a seed.
You were born into a life you didn't ask for, fated to feed on the remains of a creature too enormous to fathom.
You are the decomposer of a dead god. You are the creator of a new world.
Decomposer is a one-page GM-less worldbuilding game. Players take on the role of microorganisms, plants, worms, or other decomposers, and slowly consume an enormous creature using a new dice-pool mechanic. Every time they eat a piece of this great beast, they add it to a drawing. Once digested, this creature’s remains form the foundation of a new world, ready to be explored.
What is this?
It's inspired by Norse and Mesopotamian creation myths, and games like The Quiet Year. It’s a meditation on how we live on after we die. You can play it in one session of about 2 hours, solo or up to 6 players. You can use it to develop the setting of another game or adventure. It’s free on itch.io.
